Heiman Fire Equipment was founded in 1947 by Jack B. Heiman who, after returning from World War II, inquired about an ad in the Argosy and Sports Afield magazines for a distributor of Fyr Fyter Co. fire extinguishers. Jack began selling Red Ball fire extinguishers in the local area farming community in northwest Iowa.

Since its modest beginnings in 1947, Heiman Fire Equipment has evolved into a multi-faceted company with over 50 employees, 16 fire salesmen in 7 states, and 4 industrial salesmen.
