HEKS/EPER (Swiss Church Aid) serves as the aid arm of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland, coordinating relief and development work across more than 30 countries on four continents. The organization funds and supports projects aimed at reducing hunger, poverty, and injustice, and it also provides emergency relief in response to natural disasters and armed conflict. It further supports welfare and diaconal work carried out by Reformed Churches in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER advocates for the rights and integration of refugees and for socially disadvantaged people. The group is based in Zürich, in the canton of Zürich, and operates as a mid-sized international aid organization. A notable development in its collaborative work occurred in 2017 when ACORD International partnered with HEKS/EPER to launch a water and sanitation project addressing increased demand from refugees at Bidibidi refugee settlement in Northern Uganda.
