HHRI is a nonprofit medical research organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It supports and oversees the medical research conducted at Hennepin Healthcare's Level I trauma center and acute care teaching hospital in downtown Minneapolis. The institute conducts basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiologic studies across four focus areas: Acute Care/Trauma, Addiction, Health Services, and Infectious Diseases. It serves clinicians, patients, and the broader research community by pursuing work intended to improve patient care and community health through research and education. HHRI is among Minnesota's largest medical research nonprofits. In 2020, HHRI partnered with Mayo Clinic to pursue a convalescent plasma protocol for COVID-19 and collaborated with Memorial Blood Centers to collect plasma for that effort.
