HESS AG is a Swiss company in the truck transportation and bus-building sector, based in Bellach, Solothurn, Switzerland (7 Bielstrasse, 4512). It develops and builds electric buses up to 25 meters and offers life cycle management and spare parts, repairs and service for vehicles of various types, as well as bodies for commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tons and oldtimer restorations. The company traces its origins to 1882 and is run in the fifth generation, producing around 2,400 buses annually with license partners; the Bellach site employs roughly 450 people in over 30 occupations, including more than 40 apprentices. It promotes innovative bus technologies such as the modular CO-BOLT system for high-performance electric buses and the lighTram concept, available as battery or trolleybus variants, with the trolleybus able to operate sections without overhead lines and the TOSA bus capable of rapid charging at stops. In January 2026, Hess AG expanded its trolleybus electric systems portfolio through the acquisition of assets from Kiepe Electric.
