At HETRA, our mission is to improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children of all ability levels through equine-assisted activities.

What started in 1989 with one participant, one horse, and three volunteers has grown into a thriving program serving over 150 participants weekly from Nebraska and Iowa. Our services—riding, carriage driving, and equine-assisted learning—offer therapeutic benefits such as enhanced balance, confidence, and emotional resilience.

We welcome individuals with a wide range of disabilities and mental health conditions, including cerebral palsy, autism, PTSD, anxiety, and more. As Nebraska’s only PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center, we uphold the highest industry standards in safety, horse care, facility operations, and volunteer training.
