The Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh serves as the central hub for Jewish campus life for more than 5,000 Jewish university students in the city. Its mission is to enrich students’ lives so they can enrich the Jewish people and the world, and to develop a new generation of Jewish leaders. The organization offers a wide range of programming that reflects diverse interests and is rooted in pluralism, inviting all Jewish students to participate. It promotes growth across intellectual, spiritual, and social dimensions while encouraging engagement in tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world), Jewish learning, and connection to Israel and global Jewish peoplehood. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the organization is a small to mid-sized nonprofit operating within the civic and social sector. In August 2023 it announced a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh to welcome first-year students and illustrate pathways to campus Jewish life.
