"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19 OUR PRAYER That God is exalted in everything. PURPOSE Introducing people to Jesus and inspiring everyone to follow Him fully. PRIORITIES We will accomplish this by: Caring for one another in community Ministry to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of people was the heart of Jesus' ministry, and so it is at the heart of Hillside's commitment. Our dream is that each person at Hillside is involved in significant ministry to others in alignment with how God has gifted him or her, that Hillside is a place where the development of new ministries is cultivated, and where those who are involved in ministry are cared for and encouraged. We envision a church body in which all people have a sense of belonging, experience the love of God and the love of His people, and are engaged in active ministry to others. "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Philippians 2:4 Reaching out with the hope of Jesus Hillside desires to deeply impact the community within San Jose with the message of the Gospel, building on outreach ministries already in place and opportunities that God places before us. Our target is an annual conversion rate of ten percent or more through the local ministries of Hillside. "And in his name the Gentiles will hope." Matthew 12:21 Growing to be the people God intends us to be Hillside believes that intimacy with Jesus Christ and moment-by-moment empowerment of the Holy Spirit are integral to a disciple's spiritual growth, obedience, and empowerment for effective ministry. We desire that members of our church community understand the Bible, which is God's Word, and actively live out its teaching. Beyond knowledge, it is our desire that each of us is a growing believer, intimately connected with Christ and living in daily dependence on Him through prayer and a life of worship. We believe that spiritual formation is integral to each believer's life. "Bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1:10 Developing our gifts to serve and lead Hillside takes seriously the scriptural role of servant leaders at every level of church life. We believe that God gives leadership gifts that, when unleashed, can have a profoundly positive effect on the local church and its ministry effectiveness. "And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-12
