The Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) is a civic and social organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, focused on advancing the prosperity and sustainability of Hmong American farmers. Established by farming families in 2011, HAFA operates a 155-acre incubator farm in Dakota County where member families can lease land, develop their agricultural practices, and sell produce through the HAFA Food Hub. The organization emphasizes collective farm business development, education, and advocacy as parts of building pathways to wealth and a fair local food economy for all, addressing barriers related to land access, financing, training, and markets. HAFA’s activities are situated within Minnesota’s broader local foods economy, where Hmong farmers have become a significant presence at metropolitan farmers markets and form a central part of the region’s agricultural landscape.
