The Hockaday Museum of Art is a public art museum and cultural resource serving Kalispell and the Flathead Valley in Montana, founded in 1968 by local artists. It preserves Montana's artistic legacy with a focus on the state's artists and Glacier National Park-related art, including the culture of the Blackfeet people, and houses a large collection of Glacier Park art. The museum's rotating and traveling exhibitions feature work by nationally recognized artists and illuminate Montana's art, culture, and history. The permanent collection is valued at about $1.3 million and includes more than 600 catalogued items, with education programs supported by trained volunteer docents guiding visitors and students. The Off the Wall Gift Gallery offers items by local and regional artists, including pottery, glass, jewelry, cards, prints, and books, connecting audiences with regional makers.
