Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND) is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Detroit, Michigan, that addresses homelessness through coordinated, cross-sector effort. Since 1996, HAND has led the Continuum of Care for Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park, coordinating service providers, community development groups, and government partners in a shared approach to homelessness. The organization also serves as a data hub, overseeing the Homeless Management Information System to maintain information on who is homeless, their needs, and what strategies are effective. HAND functions as a regional resource and forum for information sharing, planning, and networking among the agencies involved in homelessness services. It also supports advocacy on behalf of people experiencing homelessness and hosts bi-monthly membership meetings to align community efforts and advance the region’s 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness.
