Hood Design Studio, Inc. is a social art and design practice based in Oakland, California, founded in 1992. Its work spans art and fabrication, design and landscape, and research and urbanism, a combination that enables consideration of places at multiple scales and in context. The studio aims to respond to each site with an approach tailored to its particulars rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

It seeks to reinforce ecological and cultural patterns across historical and contemporary contexts, and it treats urban spaces and their objects as public sculpture that marks the way we perceive beauty, strangeness, and idiosyncrasies around us. In 2025 Hood Design Studio partnered with the International African American Museum to ensure the landscape reflects the weight of history while serving as an accessible space for community engagement, education, and healing.
