The Hood Museum of Art is a college museum affiliated with Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. It maintains a broad collection of works that spans cultures and eras, with roughly 65,000 objects drawn from six continents to support education and public engagement. Its notable holdings include six Assyrian stone reliefs from the palace of Ashurnasirpal II and José Clemente Orozco’s The Epic of American Civilization, which is a National Historic Landmark.

The museum opened in 1985 in a building designed by Charles Moore, consolidating Dartmouth’s holdings under one roof and earning long-standing accreditation since 1990. It serves Dartmouth faculty and students as well as the Upper Valley communities, offering interpretive programs that illuminate a wide range of artistic traditions. With a mid-sized staff, Hood continues to collect, preserve, and provide access to its holdings in the public trust for educational purposes.
