Hope Valley Country Club has a long 
and revered history both in Durham 
and North Carolina.  Its Donald Ross 
golf course was one of the few that 
Ross personally supervised during
 its construction.  In 2003, the course underwent a significant restoration using Ross’s original 
drawings now archived in Pinehurst. 

 

Perhaps the crown jewel of Hope 
Valley is our 1926 Aymar Embury II Clubhouse nestled on a ridge 
overlooking the neighborhood and fairways.  Carefully renovated over 
the years, it now boasts 52,000 
square feet of dining and 
entertainment space.   In addition to overlooking three Ross fairways, the Clubhouse has wonderful views of our aquatic facilities featuring the area’s  
only dedicated diving tank, a children’s 
pool, and our Olympic-sized main pool.

 

We are very proud of our Club and 
we’re sure you will agree that Hope Valley offers a unique combination of tradition, modern facilities, convenient location, and of course, an outstanding golfing experience. Our tennis facilities feature seven har-tru (soft) and 
two hard courts. Both our golf and 
tennis programs boast outstanding professionals who provide instruction through private lessons and clinics.
