Hopewell is a therapeutic community located on a 325-acre farm in rural Mesopotamia, Ohio, that supports adults with conditions such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and major depression. The program focuses on holistic treatment, leveraging nature, purposeful work, and a skilled staff to help residents develop skills for managing their mental health and progressing toward independent living. Through engagement with farm environments—barns, pastures, gardens, forests, and streams—participants gain personal responsibility, routine-building, and community contribution, aiming to function at their highest level during and after their stay. The organization operates two transition pathways: the University Circle Transition Program, which provides apartment-based support after leaving the farm, and Club Hope, a structured daily program for graduates transitioning toward community living in Northeast Ohio. Hopewell emphasizes outcomes such as self-reliance, purpose, and hope, framed within a rural, farm-based therapeutic setting.
