The Horatio Alger Association is a nonprofit organization in the higher education sector, based in Alexandria, Virginia, and founded in 1947. It honors individuals who have achieved success despite adversity and supports students pursuing higher education through need-based undergraduate and graduate scholarships and mentoring programs across the United States and Canada. The association launched its scholarship program in 1984. 

More recently, the organization has expanded its activities with leadership-focused initiatives and partnerships. It has collaborated with the Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation to support the Dennis Washington Leadership Graduate Scholarship. In 2025 the association hosted the second American Enterprise Summit, an event for rising eighth graders.
