Hospice of West Alabama (HOWA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-based hospice provider that has served the West Alabama area since 1982. HOWA provides care and support to patients and their families in Bibb, Greene, Hale, Pickens, Fayette, Lamar and Tuscaloosa counties. One of the oldest hospices in Alabama, we understand the physical, emotional, and spiritual continuum of care that's needed during the final stages of life.

HOWA has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for accreditation. We are proud partners with The United Way of West Alabama, and members of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), the Alabama Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (AHPCO), and The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama.

Hospice of West Alabama employees more than 80 staff members and serves over 700 patients per year. We are the only hospice provider in West Alabama with a free-standing hospice inpatient facility. HOWA's team is comprised of dedicated professionals committed to providing quality and compassionate end of life care.
