Housing Opportunity Development Corporation (HODC) is a community-based nonprofit real estate developer that focuses on creating permanent affordable housing in the Chicago metropolitan area, primarily serving the northern suburbs. The organization advances both rental and for-sale housing through rehabilitation and new construction, aiming to support families, seniors, persons with disabilities, individuals, and local workers, and to foster inclusive, diverse communities. HODC also operates a HUD-certified housing counseling program that assists first-time buyers and homeowners facing foreclosure, and it holds designation as a certified Community Housing Development Organization. Based in Skokie, Illinois, the nonprofit collaborates with municipalities, lenders, and community partners to develop and manage affordable housing projects, with a portfolio that includes completed and ongoing developments across multiple suburban communities. A recent notable development involves a partnership to transform a church site in Evanston into a mixed-use, affordable housing and neighborhood-serving commercial space.
