Howley Bread Group was established in 2000 by Lee Howley to develop, own, and operate a Panera Bread franchise. He is partners with Thomas Howley, VP of Development and Bahjat Shariff, VP of Operations.

The franchise has experienced consistent growth, from one Panera Bread bakery-cafe in 2000 in Cranston, Rhode Island, to 28 throughout Rhode lsland, Connecticut, and southeastern Massachusetts today.
