Hub Labels started in 1978 with a single press, a small storefront, and two people who saw opportunity where others didn’t. Bud and Mary Dahbura, newly returned to Hagerstown after launching their first label business in El Salvador, set out to build something lasting, a company rooted in craftsmanship, innovation, and relationships.
What began as a daytime operation run by Mary while Bud worked as a mechanical engineer quickly turned into a growing manufacturing business. One press became two, then four. The team expanded. The footprint expanded, eventually landing in the current Shawley Drive facility, which has grown through four major expansions and now spans 110,000 square feet with more than twenty presses on the floor.
From the start, Hub Labels pushed the boundaries of what label printing could be. We were early adopters of four color process, computer to plate workflows, digital printing, servo driven presses, and linerless technology. That spirit of innovation is still core to who we are.
Today, Hub is one of the largest independent label manufacturers in the United States. But growth hasn’t changed the foundation. We remain a family owned company with a deep commitment to quality, service, and doing things the right way.
More than four decades later, the same values Bud and Mary built this company on still guide us: curiosity, grit, and pride in the work.
