Hughes Supply is a wholesale distributor serving the electrical and plumbing trades, supplying products used by contractors who install and service these systems. The company was founded in 1928 in Orlando, Florida by Clarence Hughes and his son Russell, beginning as a residential supplier focused on Florida construction. In the 1940s it added plumbing supplies to meet contractor demand, and over the ensuing decades broadened its Florida footprint while expanding into commercial construction. By the mid-2000s the business extended beyond Florida into the Southeast, Midwest, and Pacific regions, transitioning from a primarily residential focus to a more diversified, multi-regional distributor. Ownership and branding have changed hands since its early days: Hughes Supply was acquired by The Home Depot’s HD Supply division in 2006, and later joined Hajoca Corporation in 2011, after which the company reclaimed its historical name. Today it operates as a United States–based wholesale distributor serving electrical and plumbing markets, maintaining ties with manufacturers and contractors, including a 2020 collaboration with Kohler to establish space within Scottsdale Renaissance.
