Hummert International's rich history originates far before emerging as a leading horticulture supply wholesaler. In 1932 with a humble German immigrant establishing his roots in downtown St. Louis, August H. Hummert Sr. made his start by providing seed and supplies for St. Louis growers on the famous “Florist Row,” along the banks of the Mississippi River under the name A. H. Hummert Seed Co.

Throughout the ‘30s and ‘40s, business grew after the company’s first catalog was produced in 1936.
Over time, Hummert Seed’s catalog and business would grow from a humble seed store to a global distributor. The company headquarters later relocated to Earth City to expand its warehouse in 1995, while adopting the company name Hummert International, to complement its world-wide role.

Today, Hummert International remains family-oriented and fourth generational, along with a 60+ person staff operating out of our Earth City, MO and Topeka, KS warehouses. As an industry leader in horticulture product knowledge with unparalleled world-class customer service, Hummert International continues to see growth with established business in all 50 states, export of products to 70 foreign countries, and an expansive catalog of more than 32,000 horticulture product and equipment offerings.
