Hydroacoustics Inc. (HAI) is a defense and space manufacturing company based in Henrietta, New York, with roots going back to 1972 through a Harvard University acoustics research spin-off developed at General Dynamics. The firm designs and manufactures high power, broadband, low-frequency underwater acoustic sources using continuous wave and impulse technology, and has been granted numerous patents. HAI provides integrated capabilities across design, manufacturing, testing, and calibration, including analytical modeling, research and development, procurement, quality control, and on-site support, to deliver specialized acoustic products and services for military and commercial applications.
HAI serves customers seeking advanced acoustic solutions for national defense and related sectors, offering maintenance and repair capabilities both in-house and at customer sites, and developing custom products for specific applications. While rooted in defense, the company also references efforts in energy, notably for oil recovery technology that aims to increase production without drilling or chemicals. A recent development note mentions the expansion of custom RF communications and underwater loudhailer capabilities for remote firing, reflecting ongoing product enhancements alongside its core acoustic offerings.
