Thule Energy Storage (TES) is a thermal energy storage platform with a legacy of innovation delivering resilient, cost-effective and sustainable products using proven technology to harness the power of ice to store energy.

Our Ice Bear™ line of products turn air conditioners into the most cost-effective form of energy storage available. TES acquired the Ice Bear™ thermal energy storage technology and product line in 2020, and has been managing a fleet of Ice Bears that deliver critical grid capacity to our utility clients and savings for commercial and residential customers. We are building on a legacy with partners who can help us leverage the full potential of our platform to address the pressing challenges of our changing climate and our aging, unreliable power grid.

The Ice Bear has an installed base of over 1,500 Ice Bear systems, providing over 20 MW of behind-the-meter energy storage in over 40 utility service territories worldwide.

Our managed assets currently include over 5 MW of distributed thermal energy storage units and we have the capabilities to meet the energy storage needs of all customer types including utility, commercial & industrial, and residential customers. As an owner and operator of its own fleet of storage units, TES offers customers ongoing services to monitor and manage their units throughout their long useful life.
