ICTF is an independent, not-for-profit, member-led association for international credit and trade finance professionals, based in Baltimore. It was established in 2010 by former FCIB/NACM board members and has grown to include more than 1,000 members across more than 50 countries. The organization provides expertise, networking, and programs and services designed to support professional performance, including real-time business intelligence and ongoing development opportunities. Its emphasis on benchmarking and sharing best practices helps advance the field and member capabilities.

ICTF collaborates with Thunderbird School of Global Management to offer online education that leads to professional designations, such as Registered Global Credit Professional and Certified Global Credit Executive. The organization's mission is to attract talent and sustain a professional international credit and trade finance community that safeguards members' interests, guided by values of expertise, professionalism, respect, trust, integrity, and service; it notes its involvement in the 28th International Credit Professionals Symposium in Budapest in May 2025.
