The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) operated as an employer-led body in the United Kingdom that helped shape technical education and apprenticeships from 2017 until its abolition in 2025. It was based in London, at 151 Buckingham Palace Road, and functioned as a mid-sized organization within the education administration space. Its work focused on engaging employers and learners to influence how technical education programs and apprenticeships were designed and delivered. In 2024, the government announced that Skills England would assume IfATE’s functions, with a formal handover alongside its dissolution. IfATE was abolished on 1 June 2025, and Skills England was established as an executive agency the following day. The entity is now described as closed, with its responsibilities continuing under Skills England.
