The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) is a professional development organization focused on leadership and public safety within Illinois’ law enforcement community. Based in Springfield, it coordinates a statewide network of chiefs of police and other public-safety decision-makers across more than 460 agencies, delivering training, services, and collaborative opportunities. Founded in 1941, ILACP also engages in policy advocacy aimed at strengthening policing and safeguarding the communities they serve. It serves more than 1,400 members and operates with a small to mid-sized staff, reflecting its role as a specialized association rather than a large-scale entity. The organization supports its members through programs that cultivate professional development, partnerships, and strategic initiatives in policing. In July 2025, Champaign partnered with ILACP and local law enforcement to advance Speed Awareness Day, illustrating the group’s role in coordinating statewide public-safety campaigns.
