Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI) is a Chicago-based organization in the public policy arena focused on advancing health justice through equitable policy, systems, and institutional change. Its aim is to ensure all people and communities have a fair and just opportunity to be healthy and thrive, with work that emphasizes collaboration with partners to drive systemic improvements in health outcomes. The organization operates with a small team and concentrates on policy- and system-level initiatives anchored in public health goals. IPHI partners with government agencies, health organizations, and other institutions to provide technical assistance and to support information exchange that enhances health equity and care coordination for underserved populations. Recent developments include a collaboration with the CDC to deliver technical assistance through Illinois’ State Physical Activity and Nutrition program, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health. The institute has also supported multi-state efforts such as DASH with its Michigan counterpart and CHCS, and helped launch the Chicago Regionwide Community Information Exchange with 4medica to improve care coordination.
