The Illinois Stewardship Alliance is a small to mid-sized nonprofit focused on public policy in Illinois, promoting family farmers and local food systems. It pursues ecologically sustainable, economically viable, and socially just local food systems through policy development, advocacy, and education. Based in Springfield, Illinois, the alliance positions itself at the intersection of farming, health, community development, social justice, and the environment, viewing the food system as the chain of activities linking production, processing, distribution and access, consumption and waste management. 

In December 2025 the organization announced its 2026 policy agenda, outlining campaigns to address monopolies in agriculture, support farmers, and expand equitable food access across Illinois. Earlier in 2025, ISA launched Building a Bigger Table, a summer organizing drive, and held its Annual Member Meeting in December with the agenda voted and approved by members. The organization emphasizes education for local consumers and policy work designed to strengthen local food systems.
