IMSA is the premier sanctioning body for North American sports car racing, formed in 2013 from the merger of Grand-Am Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series, with roots tracing back to 1969. It oversees seven racing platforms, including the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the IMSA Challenge and IMSA Prototype Challenge, and four one-make series. The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship operates over 12 weekends each year at iconic venues such as Daytona International Speedway, Sebring International Raceway, Watkins Glen International, and Road Atlanta. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, IMSA serves a broad audience of motorsport fans, teams, and automotive manufacturers across North America. The organization involves 19 manufacturers, including Acura, Alfa Romeo, AMG-Mercedes, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mazda, McLaren, Mini, Nissan, and Porsche. It maintains an exclusive North American partnership with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, linking its WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and enabling automatic entries for selected competitors.
