Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) serves as the collective voice for quality and choice in private higher education in Indiana, bringing together 30 member colleges and universities. The organization engages in public policy advocacy with an emphasis on state and federally funded student financial aid, and it provides public information and research on the sector’s performance and contributions. It coordinates fundraising activities with all funds directed to its member institutions and develops collaborative services, such as group purchasing and shared services across campuses. It also administers the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program along with other scholarships and grants. Based in Indianapolis, ICI is a small to mid-sized membership association that includes institutions such as Notre Dame, Valparaiso University, Butler University, and Wabash College. In 2023, the organization announced a partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to support recruitment and retention of engineering and nursing graduates across the state.
