Indian River Central School District is governed by a nine-member Board of Education through the Superintendent of Schools, Troy Decker. The educational programing is geared toward developing productive, successful citizens through a broad range of activities and educational opportunities. The district covers 284 square miles and has approximately 3,600 students enrolled, with the average class ratio being 18:1 and the average graduation rate being 94%. The current operating budget is $102 million and is used to support a sizable educational and support infrastructure. There are approximately 750 full and part-time employees, and that does not include bus drivers, for whom we contract with an outside agency;. The District has over 360 acres of campus space, of which 53 acres are playing fields for a variety of sports and athletic activities. Currently, 54% of our students are from a military background or are related to Fort Drum. The diversity in background and experience that is brought to the district via the military connection has truly enriched student opportunities. The district provides extracurricular activities that reflect student interest and capitalize on the variety of talents that our students bring to the district. Indian River Central School District takes great pride in providing exceptional educational opportunities to our students.
