The Indiana Genealogical Society is a small, nonprofit information service based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, formed in 1989 to foster interest in the individuals who contributed to Indiana’s founding and development, with a focus on early settlers. Its work centers on preserving and publishing materials related to the people who settled the state, supporting researchers and enthusiasts in genealogical discovery. The organization operates within the information services sector and maintains a presence in the Indiana community through its Indiana County Genealogist program, which has added professionals in various counties to assist local genealogical inquiries. Recent activity includes the appointment of new genealogists to expand its reach in DeKalb and Marshall counties, reflecting ongoing efforts to support regional genealogical research. The society functions with a small staff and serves those seeking deeper historical and genealogical information about Indiana’s past from a neutral, archival perspective.
