Insights

Market Niche Expertise Inflight Warning Systems (IWS) specializes in vibration analysis and monitoring for aircraft fans, addressing a critical safety and operational issue that leads to flight diversions. Their proven products prevent fan failures that cause smoke incidents, opening opportunities to partner with major airlines seeking to improve safety and reduce costs.

Industry Focused Solution With over 4,000 units delivered globally and core expertise in aviation safety, IWS's products are highly compatible with airline maintenance operations. This creates potential sales avenues with airlines and maintenance providers looking to upgrade existing fleet safety systems with retrofittable vibration monitors.

Expanding Applications While aviation is the main focus, IWS also applies its vibration analysis technology to non-aviation markets. This diversification offers additional cross-industry sales opportunities, especially in industrial sectors requiring vibration monitoring for machinery health.

Size and Revenue Potential Though a small company with 11 to 50 employees and revenue estimated between 1 million and 10 million dollars, their niche expertise and proven track record position them as a specialized supplier for larger aerospace companies and defense contractors like Safran and Collins Aerospace.

Technology and Integration Utilizing modern tech stacks like Google Cloud, Nginx, and web-based deployment tools, IWS demonstrates a readiness for scalable, cloud-enabled solutions. This technological edge can appeal to OEMs and airlines seeking innovative, easy-to-integrate safety monitoring systems, creating opportunities for strategic partnerships and upselling.

INFLIGHT WARNING SYSTEMS was formed in 2002 specifically for the purpose of developing a line of bearing vibration monitors for use in commercial aircraft. Flight diversions resulting from smoke in the cockpit and cabin caused by fan failure has become a significant problem in flight operations. IWS has worked closely with airline customers to develop a successful product line, and has delivered over 4000 units worldwide. We specialize in vibration analysis, the basis for predicting fan failure. Although aircraft fan applications have been the core of the IWS products, other applications, including non-aviation markets, are also a part of our products and expertise. The IWS Vibration Monitor Unit (VMU) is a proven device that is easily retrofitted to aircraft fans to eliminate fan smoke failures thus eliminating flight diversions resulting from these failures.
