About Skritter Skritter was founded in 2008 as a website designed to help students learn to write Chinese characters. Skritter’s co-founders Nick, Scott, and George lived together and worked tirelessly to build the most comprehensive tool for reviewing Chinese and Japanese characters. Fast-forward to June 2012, and Skritter changed forever with the release of Skritter Chinese on iOS—the first mobile app where you learned characters by actually writing them on a screen. Since then, Skritter has continued to expand and remains one of the most potent Chinese and Japanese learning tools on iOS, Android, and the web. Today, the Skritter team is working to become an even more powerful, intuitive, and effective tool for studying Chinese and Japanese.
