The Institute for Advanced Study is a mid-sized higher education research institution based in Princeton, New Jersey, dedicated to theoretical research and advancing knowledge across the sciences and humanities. Each year, about 250 postdoctoral researchers and scholars join as Members to pursue independent inquiry on a campus that emphasizes collaboration and scholarly mentorship. They are guided by a permanent Faculty who are preeminent leaders in their fields. The Institute has a distinguished history of association with notable figures, including Albert Einstein, Erwin Panofsky, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and a wide range of Nobel Laureates, Fields Medalists, Abel Prize Laureates, MacArthur and Guggenheim fellows, and other prize winners.
