The Institute for Applied Ecology is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1999 with a mission to conserve native species and habitats. Our vision is for people and wildlands to interact positively and meet environmental challenges with research-based techniques and hands-on community support. Our 50+ full-time staff manage many restoration sites in Oregon and the Southwestern United States, have planted thousands of native plants, and engage youth as well as adults and juveniles in custody with ecology lessons. Our programs have accomplished much for our mission to restore ecosystems (Habitat Restoration Program, Native Plant Materials), connect people with nature (Ecological Education Program), and research conservation methods (Conservation Research Program, Estuary Technical Group).
