TThe Institute for Healthcare Advancement (IHA) began its work in health literacy in 1999, envisioning a world where everyone has equal access to quality health outcomes. What would it take to succeed? An advancement of health literacy to support health equity throughout the healthcare industry. So, for more than two decades, IHA, a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) public benefit charity, has empowered, educated, and supported tens of thousands of professionals and organizations through world-class learning tools, conferences, resources, and consulting. Professionals who engage in any of our initiatives experience significant improvements in their professional development, workplace effectiveness, and the health equity of those they serve. Because the healthcare system encompasses a wide array of stakeholders, from individuals to organizations of all types and sizes, every person in the health industry, and their individual experiences, playa crucial role in promoting and enhancing health equity. IHA’s Mission Advancing Health Literacy Toward Health Equity To empower, educate, and support health professionals and organizations to remove communication barriers so patients can manage their own care and thrive. As experts in health literacy, communications, medical research, and community needs, we know that improved health starts with understanding. We will consistently act in the collective best interest of health professionals and organizations while being candid, transparent and, at times, disruptive in our efforts to make global health equity possible.
