The Institute of Economic Affairs Kenya acts as a think tank that provides a venue for informed discussion aimed at shaping public policy in Kenya. It promotes a diverse exchange of ideas through open, active, and informed debate on policy issues, while conducting research and public education on key economic and public affairs topics in Kenya and the broader region. Findings from its research are used to support policy dialogue and influence policymaking. Established in 1994 and incorporated under Kenya's Companies Act as a company without share capital and limited by guarantee, IEA Kenya operates independently of political parties, pressure groups, or other partisan interests, and is governed by a non-executive board with the headquarters in Nairobi. In January 2020, the organization announced a partnership with Global Financial Integrity to work on financial transparency.
