Instituto Politécnico de Tomar is a mid-sized higher education institution in Tomar, Portugal, offering applied degree programs across technology, management, and related fields. It traces its origins to 1973 and now comprises three schools—the School of Technology in Tomar, the School of Management in Tomar, and the School of Technology in Abrantes—and serves about four thousand students across twenty-one degree programs. Since adopting the Bologna framework in 2007/2008, IPT has focused on first-cycle degrees, with some departments potentially offering second-cycle programs in the near future. The institute provides professional training, retraining for teachers and staff, and lifelong learning initiatives, and runs study programs in partnership with other universities, including a Master’s Degree in Prehistoric Archaeology and Rock Art under the ERASMUS-MUNDUS framework with UTAD. A 2026 development includes a collaboration with Empowered Startups Ltd, expanding the HQA program into the Central Region of Portugal.
