Insurance Trustees is an independent insurance agency serving the DeKalb County and Northeast Indiana area since 1931. Insurance Trustees, Inc. has been a proud member of the Garrett community for over 100 years. Although the company was incorporated in 1931, its history dates back to 1908. Monte L. Green founded the business in 1908 through a contract with National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Monte turned to his sons to handle the business, so Arden Green became an agent in 1923 and Dale Green in 1924. In 1937, Bernard Brennan joined the company as part owner with Dale Green, and became sole owner in 1951. The business began to grow when Ron Dicke joined the company in 1967 and became part owner with Brennan five years later. With much success, Ron received agent of the year from the state of Indiana in 1987. To help the growing business, Mike Shuherk joined the Insurance Trustees team in 1991 as a partner. Staying apart of the Garrett community remained important to the company in 1999 when Insurance Trustees moved to its current location, 120 South Randolph Street. After the move, the company continued to grow to what it is today. In 2003, Todd Kidder joined as a partner. Chad Roberts was brought on in 2009 to support the ever growing business. Rex Whitten, the newest addition to the sales team, started in 2012.
