The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) is a nonprofit organization focused on standardizing and improving emergency dispatch services worldwide. It supports research related to first responder communication and promotes the consistent application of dispatch protocols, aiming to strengthen the emergency response community through education, certification, and accreditation across medical, fire, and police dispatch domains. The IAED collaborates with allied academies and pursues development of legislation for emergency call center regulation, positioning itself within the research services sector as a standards-setting body that informs best practices in dispatch. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, the organization operates as a global node for dispatch-related standards, training, and accreditation despite serving a broad international audience. Recent developments include the release of updated protocols and software versions that support its ProQA and FPDS systems, reflecting ongoing refinements to improve triage and decision-making in emergency medical and fire dispatch contexts.
