The International Academy of Trial Lawyers is a professional fellowship for lawyers focused on protecting and promoting the Rule of Law. Founded in 1954, it gathers trial lawyers recognized for skill, experience, ethics, and civility, encompassing both prosecutors and defense attorneys in criminal matters as well as plaintiff and defense counsel in civil litigation. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the organization positions itself within the legal practice industry as a selective association that emphasizes high standards of competency and integrity for judges and lawyers alike. Its recent activity includes board appointments and fellow inductions, reflecting ongoing expansion and engagement with the trial-lawyer community.

The Academy serves a cross-section of trial professionals, aiming to ensure equal access to justice and a robust legal profession. By bringing together practitioners from different sides of the courtroom, it highlights the collective commitment to the Rule of Law and to maintaining professional civility within the field. While its primary role is as a fellowship rather than a service provider, its activities and recognitions signal its influence and relevance within the trial-lawyer ecosystem. Recent updates show governance and membership developments, indicating ongoing governance and community-building within the organization.
