The International Association for Identification (IAI) is the oldest and largest association of forensic professionals worldwide, bringing together members from public, private, and government agencies that work in forensic science and law enforcement. Its members range from entry-level practitioners to seasoned examiners, with many holding IAI certifications earned through examinations that test both written knowledge and practical skills. The organization was established to standardize the profession of forensic identification, investigation, and the scientific examination of physical evidence, while promoting research, training, and the publication of the latest techniques and discoveries across its disciplines. Based in Hollywood, Florida, the IAI operates with a relatively small staff and serves an international, multi-sector membership. It seeks to support ongoing education and professional development for forensic professionals and agencies. In August 2025, the association participated in its Annual Educational Conference, illustrating continued engagement with frontline forensic agencies and practitioners.
