The International Association for Refugees (IAFR) is a faith-based nonprofit organization established in 2009 and based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It focuses on long-term recovery for people displaced by violence, war, human rights violations, and persecution, with an emphasis on rebuilding community ties, strengthening capacity, and promoting healing and reconciliation through a faith-centered approach. The organization aims to connect local refugee churches with the broader church community in ways that preserve dignity and support survivors of forced displacement.
IAFR serves women, children, and men who have been uprooted, offering training and resources that are widely used by churches and ministry networks around the world to raise awareness and equip individuals for service among the forcibly displaced. Its work includes ministry training, advocacy materials, and opportunities for involvement through donations or volunteer service, with leadership grounded in the experience of founder Tom Albinson, who has worked with refugees since 1981.
