Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is a nonprofit organization representing the leadership of more than 1.2 million firefighters and emergency responders. Its members are recognized experts across firefighting, emergency medical services, terrorism response, hazmat incidents, natural disasters, search and rescue, and public safety legislation, and the organization provides a forum to exchange ideas and access the latest products and services for first responders. Founded in 1873, the IAFC serves an international community of career and volunteer chiefs, chief fire officers, and managers of emergency service organizations within the nonprofit sector. A notable recent development is that Donna Black was appointed chief executive officer in February 2026.
