The International CCS Knowledge Centre is a non-profit based in Regina, Saskatchewan, founded in 2016 and sponsored by BHP and SaskPower. It aims to accelerate the global deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS/CCUS) by improving understanding and use of CCS to reduce emissions from energy and industry. The organization acts as a facilitator that links experienced CCS countries with those at earlier stages, focusing on policy and economics, capacity, and financing. It achieves this through sharing data, information, and lessons from SaskPower’s Boundary Dam 3 facility and other CCS projects worldwide. In 2023, James Millar was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 24.
