The International Civil Rights Center & Museum, based in Greensboro, North Carolina, operates as a museum focused on the Civil Rights Movement and an educational organization dedicated to civil and human rights. It opened in 2010 at the former F.W. Woolworth’s five-and-dime site, commemorating the 1960 sit-ins led by the Greensboro Four and the broader action they helped spark. The institution provides historical interpretation and public programming aimed at understanding and advancing equal citizenship and human rights. Sit-In Movement, Inc., founded in 1993 to acquire and restore the Greensboro sit-in site and establish the Center and Museum as a lasting monument to the activists who pursued full citizenship and social justice.
