The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC) is a global network of historic sites, museums, and memory initiatives that use the past to address social justice issues today. It supports its members through grants, networking, training, transitional justice mechanisms, and advocacy to build institutional capacity. The organization is based in New York City and was founded in 1999, operating within the Historical Sites industry. It launched the Global Initiative for Justice, Truth and Reconciliation (GIJTR) in 2014, a consortium that works with communities to amplify survivors’ voices and inspire collective action on human rights issues. In 2024, the coalition partnered with the Anza Trail to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Anza Expedition, reflecting ongoing collaboration with other memory and cultural institutions.
