The International Museum of Surgical Science, a division of the International College of Surgeons, operates public galleries devoted to the history of surgery and maintains a permanent collection of art and artifacts from the history of medicine. Located in Chicago, Illinois, the museum operates within the Museums, Historical Sites, and Zoos industry, managing more than 10,000 square feet of public space and offering medically themed exhibitions and programs alongside a contemporary art program. Its mission is to enrich people's lives by expanding their understanding of the history, development, and advances in surgery and related health subjects. In 2024 the museum announced Anke Loh as its spring artist-in-residence, reflecting ongoing engagement with contemporary art within its programming. In 2023 it partnered with the Illinois Science Council to host Chicago Science Fest, a collaboration that combined talks, demonstrations, and access to exhibits to broaden public science immersion.
