IOCC is a nonprofit humanitarian and development organization that serves people in need globally and functions as the humanitarian and development arm of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States. It concentrates on five main areas—emergency preparedness and response; water, sanitation and hygiene; sustainable livelihoods; food security and agriculture; and health—and is based in Baltimore, Maryland, with a mid-sized staff.

IOCC works with Orthodox church networks and other partners to deliver relief and development programs around the world. In 2025, it established a collaboration with the United Methodist Committee on Relief to provide food and water rations to Palestinian families in refugee and displacement camps. These partnerships reflect IOCC's multi-sector, faith-based approach to humanitarian aid and development.
